The numbers may look scary.

But fortunately, our future doesn’t have to.

Take a look at these startling North Carolina statistics:
  • North Carolina ranks 5th in the worst childhood obesity rates in the nation (Trust for America’s Health 2009).
  • Only 36% of children in North Carolina get 3 or more servings of fruits or vegetables each day (CHAMP 2008).
  • 45% of children watch 2-4 hours of television each day (not counting video games, computer time, etc.)
  • Less than half of North Carolina’s children get more than 1 hour of physical activity each day (CHAMP 2008).
The good news is that North Carolinians are ready to live healthier—and Fit Family’s 5+2+1+Almost None formula is a great way to get started. Together, we can make a big difference and create a healthier North Carolina.

5: Eat 5 fruits and veggies a day.
2: Get no more than 2 hours of screen time a day.
1: Be physically active for 1 hour a day.
Almost None: Limit sugary drinks.
